Dean of the Panuska College of Professional Studies (PCPS)

The University of Scranton (www.scranton.edu), a Catholic and Jesuit University offering a transformational learning experience, seeks a Dean of the Panuska College of Professional Studies (PCPS). Reporting to the Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean is the principal administrator of the College and is responsible for the operation of the College.  The Panuska College of Professional Studies common curriculum helps students to lay the foundation for degrees in health, education, or human services.  Career paths within PCPS include education, counseling and human services, applied behavioral analysis, health informatics, occupational therapy, physical therapy, speech language pathology, human resources studies, nursing, health administration, kinesiology, and health promotion. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • a Doctoral or terminal degree
  • experience serving as a leader in a senior administrative role including the management of academic affairs and the policy that guides such practice
  • thorough knowledge of higher education pedagogy and leadership as well as prior teaching experience in one of the disciplines of the College
  • eligibility for rank of Associate or Full Professor in one of the departments of the PCPS
  • knowledge and involvement with accreditation and compliance processes
  • experience in leading curricular innovation that supports and anticipates evolving marketplace expectations
  • working with unionized employees is a plus
  • a track record of establishing external relationships to facilitate and support academic partnerships
  • a commitment to Service Learning
  • a record of engaging with student-centered approaches to teaching and learning and a demonstrated predisposition to partner with campus leaders to ensure students are well served
  • demonstrated experience cultivating donors, fund raising, and building new revenue streams
  • experience facilitating new and innovative opportunities for increased enrollment and student retention at both the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • a strategic thinker with a high level of engagement and service in their field
  • strong interpersonal skills to promote communication, interprofessional collaboration, shared governance, diversity, inclusion, and team building
  • experience in preparing and administering grants up to and including the federal level
  • a strong commitment to the mission of the University
