By the time you get to the end of an interview, you can be so mentally exhausted that you stumble on the final hurdle: questions for your interviewers. When the interviewers turn the floor over to you, it is your final opportunity to solidify a positive impression. Don’t waste this opportunity. Having well crafted questions shows diligence and engagement. Here are three ways to ensure your questions strengthen you as a candidate:
Be targeted.
Interviews move quickly. Particularly when it’s a multi-person panel interviewing you, conversations range far and wide. Did they move on from a point before you got a clear answer? Utilize your questions to clarify any information you need.
Be specific.
Show you’ve done your homework. Ask about an upcoming initiative or strategic approach. Ensure that you don’t waste your question by showboating your knowledge. This is your opportunity to differentiate this position from the others available to you.
Be genuine.
Ask your interviewer what they find most fulfilling about working for this organization. If you listen carefully to their answer, you’ll have a good sense of how they treat their employees and what your career satisfaction might be.
