Caldwell University seeks nominations and applications for the position of Vice President for Finance. Reporting to the President and serving as a member of the President’s cabinet, the Vice President is the Chief Financial Officer of the university with responsibility for the daily operations and strategic direction of the finance office.

Duties include:

  • supervision of all staff reporting through the finance area;
  • serving as the senior executive charged with responsibility for all fund management, property, state and federal grant financial management, capital funding including state or other related construction bonds, banking relationships, credit relationships, and management of the accounts of the university;
  • supervision of general accounting and financial reporting staff and policies and processes, billing and student account management, annual operating and capital budget preparation and reporting, and in-year estimate forecasting;
  • responsibility to ensure that a system of internal controls is present in the University’s financial operations.

The Vice President serves on the University’s Strategic Planning Committee, chairs the Budget subcommittee, serves in an ex-officio capacity on the Board of Trustees Finance, Endowment and Buildings and Grounds Committees and is the primary liaison to the Audit Committee of the Board in all matters pertaining to the annual financial audit with external auditors, preparation and filing of the University’s Form 990 and other financial regulatory requirements.

The University seeks an energetic, hands-on, collaborative and communicative leader who will take a proactive strategic approach to the management of University financial affairs with oversight of financial projections and reporting for capital funding, food service, and the campus store.  Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting (Master’s degree in a related field is preferred), a CPA, a minimum of seven years’ experience demonstrating progressive growth in a supervisory capacity, and prior executive level finance experience in higher education is strongly preferred.
