The Board of Trustees of Caldwell University (www.Caldwell.edu) invites inquiries, nominations and applications for the position of President. As an innovative and forward-thinking leader, the President is responsible for providing strategic and entrepreneurial leadership to ensure continuation of the exemplary success in all academic and operational areas. The University was founded in 1939 as an institution of higher learning for women and sponsored by the Sisters of Saint Dominic of Caldwell, New Jersey. Caldwell is a private, Catholic, co-educational university in the Dominican tradition that transforms students’ lives by preparing them through the liberal arts and professional studies to think critically, pursue truth and contribute to a just society.
Caldwell University offers 36 undergraduate degree, certificate, and certificate program and 43 graduate, certificate and licensure preparatory programs, including a doctoral program in Applied Behavior Analysis, the first in New Jersey. The University’s most popular offerings include undergraduate degrees in business, education, natural sciences, nursing, and psychology. Caldwell is a leader in autism education offering a state-of-the-art autism center benefitting children with autism and their families in New Jersey. Caldwell University is situated on the beautiful 70-acre campus in Caldwell, New Jersey, less than 25 miles from New York City and an hour to the New Jersey shore. Students receive experiences beyond the classroom through regional internships and shadowing opportunities.
The President is the Chief Executive Officer of the University and is accountable to the Board of Trustees and the Members of the sponsoring congregation. Requirements for the position include the following: a Catholic who has respect for the founding sponsors’ traditions and charism; an earned doctorate preferred; and credentials, character traits and experience appropriate for a 21st-century university president. The ideal candidate will have a proven record of leadership and vision in a senior administrative role and in building relationships with all constituencies. The candidate will have significant experience in financial management of a complex operation; demonstrated success in a fundraising role; experience in strategic planning; an appreciation for diversity and inclusivity; and an understanding of the technological needs/emerging trends in higher education. The President must be an advocate for liberal arts and professional program education; demonstrate a significant disposition toward fairness and transparency in governance and compliance; and, most importantly, have a commitment to the mission and values of the University.
