Joshua McSparin is the Assistant Director of the Moravian University Counseling Center. He is also a certified mindfulness-based ecotherapist. In addition to regular office sessions, McSparin also takes clients outside on nature walks as they discuss their mental health. Nature is a context for healing and opens additional breakthroughs for clients. “The feedback from students who have done both is that they prefer outdoor sessions. Some have commented that it made processing trauma easier for them because as we were walking, it felt like they were moving through their trauma,” says McSparin. Read more here.
