Filled – President

The Board of Trustees and the Presidential Search Committee invite nominations and applications for the position of President. Felician University (www.felician.edu), is a co-educational liberal arts university with two campuses in Lodi and Rutherford, New Jersey. Felician was founded in 1923 and is sponsored by the Felician Sisters, and in 2015 received University status. Felician University continues to be a sponsored ministry of the Felician Sisters as one of 24 Franciscan universities in the United States and remains the only Catholic, Franciscan, private, independent institution in New Jersey.

The Felician Sisters began the school to educate the Sisters and expanded to a diverse population of students within the framework of a liberal arts tradition. The enduring purpose of Felician University is to promote a love for learning, a desire for God, self-knowledge, service to others, and respect for all creation. Today, the University is experiencing increases in enrollment and improvements in student success because of a focus on inclusive academic excellence, shared governance, new partnerships and programs, growing net revenue, and continued facilities enhancements. The University is located 12 miles from New York City, and within 2 hours of Philadelphia.

The President of Felician University is the Chief Executive Officer and the primary liaison between the Board and the administration and is responsible for executing a strategic plan in alignment with the mission of the University. The next President must be an innovative, strategic and relational leader who will capitalize on the University’s strong foundation. The President will have a demonstrated knowledge of the highly competitive liberal arts college market and the trends in higher education to advance the University to new levels of excellence. The candidate will have demonstrated success in a fundraising role; significant experience in financial management; an appreciation for diversity and inclusivity; and an understanding of the emerging trends in higher education.

The ideal candidate should hold an earned doctorate or an equivalent terminal degree, along with credentials, character traits, and experiences befitting a forward-thinking university president in the 21st century. A proven track record of successful leadership and visionary accomplishments in senior administrative roles within higher education or non-profit institutions is essential. Additionally, a strong alignment with the mission and core values of the Felician Franciscan Sisters is a must, coupled with a profound understanding of the challenges facing Catholic higher education today. Above all, we seek an individual deeply committed to advancing the University’s mission and values, with preference given to those of Catholic faith.
